Calgary Stampeders
After the conclusion of the Second
World War, the Calgary Stampeders emerged as a bitter
rival of the Edmonton Flyers in the senior amateur
ranks. The Stamps quickly emerged as a powerhouse on the
prairies, and won the
1946 Allan
Cup right in Edmonton. As did the Flyers, the
Stampeders became a minor pro team in the ‘50s—the club
joined the Western Hockey
League.
