Announcers
When
Rod Phillips took over the duties of calling Edmonton
games on the radio, the organization found its voice.
Phillips, a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, has been the
Oilers Play-by-Play man since the team’s second season in
the old World Hockey Association back in 1973-74. His
excitement has been infectious to listeners ever since.
Phillips replaced Edmonton radio legend Bryan
Hall, who
made his name covering the Eskimos of the Canadian
Football League. "Hallsy" called hockey games during the
Alberta Oilers’ inaugural 1972-73 season.
